Hi Joe, thanks for the interest in Tanzania's beautiful blue gems. I suggest you direct the query direct to Richland or "google" some of the Tanzanite dealers. Our publication only deals in precious, or at least hopefully interesting, nuggets of information about the capital markets and investments in Africa. I hope you find some beautiful stones.

I am interested in buying Tanzanite from you, do you sell to Americans? I like the deep blue. How much a gram, or carat do you charge? If the price is right it will be a steady buying deal.
Thank you
Joe

Dr Parham, it is encouraging to hear of your work. It sounds as if much more can be done to build public health systems and capacity, including training. I hope you will be able to find ways to leverage private sector energies including impact investing to boost health care capacity.

Cervical and breast cancer are major killers of women in Africa and it is predicted that by 2030 1 million Africans will die from cancer each year. I am an American-board certified gynecologic oncologist, Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) and have been living and working full-time in Lusaka, Zambia for the past decade helping to lead the development and scale of up a cervical cancer prevention program. In addition to screening over 115,000 women for cervical cancer we have trained over 300 healthcare workers from 13 African nations to do the same. As we screen more women we find more early cancers that can be cured with surgery but the lack of an adequate surgical training and care facility, and cadres of adequately trained African cancer surgeons, creates a huge bottleneck for the care of these patients. This is the case throughout the African continent.

Thanks for the feedback and I am very impressed, its a good website. I see its generating good interest on linked in and many colleagues are talking about it - great to have such positive dynamics in the African stock exchanges. I have been sharing the ZSE link with consultant colleagues to show how company information ought to be done in other parts of the world, let Africa teach them some things.

It is interesting to note that the stock exchanges in Africa are modernising and keeping up with the challenges of the 21st century. The efforts of the Zimbabwean Stock Exchange in this regard is truly commendable. This is coming on the heels of all the innovations being introduced by the Nigerian Stock Exchange also.

The importance of up-to-date information in capital market transactions cannot be over-emphasised. All efforts geared toward making the capital markets in Africa information-driven are deserving of commendation.

Kudos to the Zimbabwean Stock Exchange! It is hoped that other stock exchanges in Africa, which are not there yet, will follow suit soon.
